🌟 How it all started:
“The Litter Lifters of West Vincent began as a grassroots effort 🌱 in April 2020 to clean up our township in Pennsylvania, USA 🇺🇸. We started with just 5 people who were planning an Earth Day 2020 ♻️🌍 event, but when it was canceled due to the pandemic, the group transformed into a litter task force 💪🗑️.
I built our new committee by using social media 📲✨ to get like-minded people involved. In the summer of 2020, our police department reached out to offer their support 🚔🤝, and our first event, with just 12 participants, was held in September 2020. For many, it was a relief to get outside, do something meaningful for our community, and forget about the pandemic for a few hours 🌿❤️.
Since then, we’ve grown to over 200 volunteers, planned 40+ events, and removed tons of litter 🗑️✨. High school students are joining in and having fun while helping clean up! Local townships are starting their own litter task forces, and the County government launched a program called ‘Keep Chester County Beautiful’ thanks to my year-long effort of gathering letters of support 💪. It was all worth it! ♻️🌍”
