Protect Nature
Every year, 13 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean (the equivalent of 2000 trucks dumping waste into the sea every single day). If nothing changes, that number could rise to 265 million tonnes by 2060.
Litter doesn’t decompose easy: cigarette butts can take 100 years to break down, plastic bottles 450 years, fishing lines up to 600 years… In the meantime, 1 million seabirds and 100.000 marine mammals die every year from ingesting or getting entangled in trash.
By cleaning up, we stop waste at the source—before it poisons ecosystems and food chains. Every bag collected is a direct act of defending nature and saving lives.

Empower Communities
Litter is ugly, dangerous and expensive… It breeds bacteria, hides sharp hazards and costs the EU economy over 13 billion euros annually in cleanups and damage.
When we remove waste, we make spaces safer, healthier and more welcoming. Clean streets and parks raise pride, attract investment and improve our quality of life. People who join a cleanup take ownership of it proving that communities thrive when cared for.

Collective Action
Over 80% of marine litter comes from land. That means what’s dropped on a street or riverbank can end up in the ocean, breaking down into microplastics that travel the globe. With 4.5 trillion cigarette butts discarded yearly, the challenge feels massive, but not impossible.
Cleanups transform awareness into action. They bring strangers together, create shared purpose and inspire good habits that last. One group picking up waste may seem small, but when multiplied across thousands of communities, it becomes a global movement. We are proving that with CSFN; small actions repeated by many lead to global changes.

We Make Change
Today, 199 Million tonnes of waste float in our oceans, with over 5,25 Trillion plastic pieces polluting waters…. If we look away, the problem will grow beyond our control.
But with cleanups, results are immediate and undeniable: a street without trash, a riverbank restored, a park children can play in safely. Each photo, each kilogram measured and volunteer story is a living proof that every action matters!
This visibility fuels hope, motivates others to join and reminds us that we are not alone in this. Everything is possible when we act together.
