Clean N’ Learn with Sembeza Africa: Sports and Education
The global litter-picking movement keeps growing, and this time, Clean Something For Nothing (CSFN) had the privilege of teaming up with Sembeza Africa for the first-ever Clean N’ Learn event in Luxembourg🌍
Who is Sembeza Africa?
Sembeza Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities in Uganda through sports, education, and environmental conservation. With 77% of Uganda’s population under 25, their mission is to provide opportunities for young people to thrive.
By combining sports, education, and sustainability, Sembeza Africa creates a powerful impact:
- ✅ Encouraging healthy habits through sports 🏀⚽
- ✅ Raising awareness about waste management and littering ♻️
- ✅ Supporting youth development and gender equality 🚀
At CSFN, we believe in the power of local movements to create global change. That’s why collaborating with organizations like Sembeza Africa is key to making the world a cleaner, healthier place—one cleanup at a time.
A day of learning & cleaning in Luxembourg
On a sunny Sunday in Central Park, Luxembourg City, volunteers came together to clean up litter and learn from Andrew Byekwaso, the founder and CEO of Sembeza Africa💚
Andrew shared inspiring stories about their work in Uganda, highlighting how sports can be used as a tool to educate and empower young people while promoting sustainability.
After gearing up, we got to work—because every piece of litter removed is a step towards a cleaner world! 🌱
Cleanup impact ♻️
🗑️ 16 kg of waste collected – the same amount of litter generated by 10 people in Luxembourg over a year!
🔄 3 kg recyclable | 13 kg non-recyclable
🚬 1,800 cigarette butts removed, preventing the contamination of thousands of liters of water 💧
Did you know? One cigarette butt can pollute up to 50 liters of water. Imagine the impact we made in just a few hours!
This Clean N’ Learn event was more than just a cleanup—it was a celebration of how communities worldwide are taking action for a litter-free planet. We’re grateful to Andrew, Rachel, Yannick, Anita, and Anikua (who, even from afar, was with us in spirit) for making this day special💙
Join the movement! Download the CSFN app, track your cleanups, and become part of a global network of change-makers. Together, we’re proving that small actions lead to big impact.
