Today we bring to #CleanSomethingForNothing the inspiring story of Mr. Beran Pacaci (@heveskar) from Turkey! 🌍✨ A conscious and proactive individual ♻️, Beran decided to tackle the litter problem head-on, leading by example 🙌. Here’s how it all began, in his own words ⬇️✨

💬 Beran’s Story:

“I met a beach cleaning worker (from Pakistan) in Dubai (U.A.E.). After some discussion about litter on the beach 🏖️, I asked him where I could get a litter picker. He told me he could provide me with one 🛠️. That’s how it started.

When I returned to Istanbul, I began collecting litter in nature. I visited places like the Maglova Aqueduct, Belgrade Forest 🌳, and various shores. My goal was to target one area I could completely clean by myself. I am doing the best I can.

I always tell my friends that it’s not just about picking up one piece of litter from nature. While doing this activity, you see all kinds of litter lying around, and it makes you question everything humans produce and discard 🛑. You also realize how litter spreads on soil and water 🌊.

I’ve been doing litter collection almost every month/week since 2019. While I’m out there and sweating, I meet people passing by and always talk to them 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. I try to get to know them, and we exchange thoughts. Sharing good ideas is essential 💡✨.

We’re doing one of the hardest jobs, nudging others who have inertia, the tendency to do nothing. We are trying to change mindsets and, ultimately, their lives.”
