Grouss Botz 2024

Join Luxembourg’s annual spring cleanup, also known as the “Grouss Botz” with Shime, Serve the City Luxembourg and CSFN! Continuing a 50-year tradition, we aim to reduce the 1001 tonnes of litter that are dumped every year in our beautiful country. With our cleanups we protect our country’s charm and wildlife. If you didn’t know about the Grouss Botz, your commune is probably participating so please feel free to ask them.

Why we do it?

📍 In Luxembourg we generate 1.6 KG of wild waste per cápita, per year.

🛣️ 100 to 200 KG of litter are collected per 1 km of road every year in Luxembourg. (see report)

💰 In Luxembourg, roadside cleaning costs reach about 1.2 million euros per year.

🐠 By 2050, our oceans could have more plastic than fish (80% comes from land)

Join the challenge

Participate in the Grouss Botz in your commune. We have prepared for you a list of communes that run the Grouss Botz in 2024. In case your commune does not participate, this shouldn’t stop you from participating; you can always get out there with some gloves and bags to make a difference using the CSFN app. Let’s unite, Luxembourg, to keep our environment clean for us and future generations. – Serve The City Luxembourg is a great charity for the expat community in Luxembourg, making volunteering accessible to everyone. Whether it’s social or environmental issues, together we can all make a difference!

– Shime is a private Luxembourgish consulting firm active in the field of sustainable development. shime is fighting against throwing cigarette butts by collecting and recycling them into furniture.

How can you participate using the Clean Something For Nothing app?

Log in the app
Enter in the challenge
Take a photo before/after your cleanup
Post the photos and bags collected

Short the litter you pick:

Separate cigarette butts, to recycle them in one of Shime’s recycling stations using CSFN’s app map
Grab a Valorlux bag for the items that are recyclable (cans, bottles, plastic, etc)
If you can separate the glass and paper it’d be amazing too.

Goal: Collect as much as we can!
Prizes: The 5 users who collect more litter will win a pocket ashtray made out of cigarette butts from Shime and a reusable cup from Serve The City. Plus the 1st and 2nd users will get an additional t-shirt from CSFN!
